Wateralia
Environmental Thesis
Water is a fundamental resource for life and it has always been central in agriculture, to increase the productivity and resilience of the food system. In modern society the integrated management of the water cycle through domestic, industrial and wastewater applications is critical to ensure quantity and quality of water and avoid uncontrolled pollution of fresh water sources. Electric water pumps are the critical component for the operation of the water management infrastructure, from the extraction of fresh water from the ground, to the distribution to end users and to the collection and processing of wastewater. Caprari has always been at the forefront in designing and producing energy efficient water pumps, reducing the energy consumption with each product generation, and is particularly strong in the agriculture and water infrastructure markets: its products directly contribute to protect crops from draught and increase yield and to collect and treat wastewater.
Business
With the investment in Caprari in February 2021, Ambienta created Wateralia, an industrial platform meant to promote consolidation through further acquisitions in the water sector.
Caprari, founded in 1945 by Amadio Caprari and headquartered in Modena (Italy), is an historical premium brand and leading player engaged in the engineering, production and distribution of centrifugal pumps and motors for the integrated water cycle. The company displays a wide portfolio characterized by three main product pump categories: submersible and vertical line, surface, and sewage. With an integrated business model, Caprari regularly serves more than 1,000 clients in various sectors, with a focus on the professional agriculture, water and infrastructure sectors, as well as a presence in the industrial space.
In July 2022, Calpeda joined the Wateralia group. Founded in 1959 by Vinicio Mettifogo and headquartered in Montorso Vicentino, Italy, Calpeda has a broad product portfolio, mainly focusing on centrifugal pumps, multistage pumps, submersible and borehole lines, as well as self-priming and peripheral pumps.
In March 2023, Wateralia completed the acquisition of Linea Ricambi and Bergomi Trading (combined under the name Caprari Trading), established distributors of spare parts and pumps in the water sector with a longstanding commercial relationship with Caprari.
In July 2024 Wateralia acquired Calpeda Pumpen, an established distributor of water pumps in Germany. Calpeda Pumpen is the fourth acquisition carried out by Ambienta as part of its buy-and-build platform strategy in the water sector.
